Recently, the European Commission published a set of regulations amending the applicable thresholds for the procurement directives.

This was followed by the publication from the Commission of a communication setting out the corresponding values in national currencies, including GBP.

The new thresholds, which will apply to procurement processes commenced on or after the 1st January 2020, are as follows:

Procurement thresholds are currently revised every two years and this revision has resulted in a slight increase across all applicable thresholds. This is due both to inflation and the recent changes in the exchange rate. This increase is likely to be welcomed by contracting authorities and utilities alike as it may result in an increased number of contracts now falling outside the full application of the regulations.

If you require any further information or advice regarding the application of these thresholds, or indeed more generally on procurement law, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our procurement team.
