Claire McCloskey - Associate
Admitted in England and Wales in 2012 and in Northern Ireland in 2012, Claire is dual-qualified to practice as a solicitor in Northern Ireland and in England & Wales.
Claire graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2009 with a 2.1 in LLB (Hons) Law with Spanish and a Distinction in Spoken Spanish. As part of her degree she spent a year studying Spanish Civil, Constitutional and Criminal Law at the University of Oviedo in Northern Spain.
She completed her training contract with a leading law firm in Manchester in August 2012, having undertaken the firm’s bespoke LPC+ at the College of Law, and joined the Banking and Finance Team in Carson McDowell LLP upon qualification.
Claire advises banks, borrowers and financial institutions in relation to all aspects of non-contentious banking and restructuring, including acquisition finance, specifically real estate finance, general corporate lending and multi-jurisdictional transactions. Since joining Carson McDowell LLP, she has been involved in several high-value and high-profile transactions in the spheres of both banking and restructuring.
Between 2017 and 2018, Claire was seconded to the Northern Irish in-house legal team of one of Ireland’s leading banks for six months, advising on a broad variety of legal issues affecting banks and customers.
