Carbon Reduction Plan

Carson McDowell is firmly committed to reducing its carbon footprint and achieving Net Zero. This commitment is overseen by our Environmental Sustainability Committee, which continues to drive accountability and progress across the firm.

Since partnering with CarbonFit (an award-winning climate tech company that provides businesses with solutions to measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint) in 2021, we have established and verified our Scope 1 and 2 emissions baseline in line with GHG methodology and expanded our reporting to include key Scope 3 categories. This has enabled robust benchmarking, enhanced transparency and ongoing third party verification.

Building on this foundation, our sustainability plan for the financial year 2024/25 focuses on strengthening engagement across our supply chain and aligning our targets with recognised best practice. We calculate our emissions data in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard, using Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) conversion factors. Sustainability and decarbonisation remain embedded in our operations, guiding more sustainable business practices across our Belfast and Dublin offices and throughout our wider supply chain.

We are working towards completing a Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) submission in 2026. SBTi is a global framework for setting corporate climate targets aligned with the Paris Agreement. Through this submission, our emissions targets will be provided for validation against SBTi criteria. This once again demonstrates our firm commitment to sustainability, future-proofing our business and staying ahead of evolving climate policies.
