Management Accountant

This role is within Managing Accounting, assisting the Finance Director with setting Firm objectives, reporting Firm performance and Client MI and ensuring Statutory and Regulatory compliance. This role requires collaboration with the Working Capital and Finance Managers to ensure the Finance Team performs effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting (Monthly)

  • Management of the month-end close process
  • Production of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis with commentary, including reconciliation of control and balance sheet accounts
  • Present Firm performance to the Managing & Finance Partners at monthly Finance Meetings
  • Production & distribution of MI to Partners, Heads of Departments and Budget Holders

Reporting (Quarterly)

  • Production of a quarterly WIP valuation
  • Production of Departmental Profit & Loss Reports

Reporting (Annually)

  • Production of statutory accounts
  • Production of branch accounts

Reporting (Other)

  • Preparation & Submission of MI to client requirements
  • Preparation & Submission of Government Surveys
  • to client Assist the Finance Director with development of Management Information

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Coordinate & prepare the annual firm budget, assisting budget Holders when required
  • Update the annual budget for a rolling forecast (periodically)

Compliance

  • Produce quarterly client control reconciliations to ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Regulations in each practicing jurisdiction (training & support will be provided)
  • Production and submission of UK and Irish VAT returns (training & support will be provided)
  • Other duties as required

Education

• Essential – Chartered Accountant

Experience


• Essential – Managing strict timetables and deadlines
• Essential – Accounts production
• Desirable – Management Accounts production (including overhead absorption)
• Desirable – Presentation of financial information to non-finance colleagues
• Desirable – Working in a regulated environment
• Desirable – Working in a professional service environment
• Desirable – Development of a reporting framework and models
