Date for Launch of Decision Support Service Announced

Written by Ciara Hanratty

The Decision Support Service (‘the DSS’) will become fully operational once the full commencement of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 takes place on 26 April 2023. The legislation aims to support adults to make their own decision in as far as this is possible.

The DSS will support decision-making by and for adults who experience difficulties exercising their decision-making capacity, as well as regulating individuals who are providing support to such adults.

The launch of the DSS will also ensure that Ireland is compliant with its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
