The Medical Council has launched the 9th Edition of the Guide to Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Medical Practitioners.

The Medical Council has launched the 9^th Edition of the Guide to Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Medical Practitioners (the “Guide”).

The launch follows a consultation process in 2021 involving members of the public, doctors and partner organisations.

The 9^th edition of the Guide updates the 8^th edition, originally released in 2016 and amended in 2019 to take account of Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018.

The Guide which comes into effect from January 2024, aims to support doctors in caring for patients while providing principles-based guidance on possible scenarios.
