Carson McDowell Trainees Win International Legal Negotiation Competition

Carson McDowell is proud to announce that two of its trainee solicitors, Rebekah Spence and Reece Simpson, have won the prestigious International Legal Negotiation Competition, which took place in London this month.
Representing the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) at Queens University Belfast, Rebekah and Reece were selected to compete after an internal selection process involving multiple rounds of competition. Their exceptional performance in London saw them take home first place, competing against teams from around the world.
The competition challenges participants to demonstrate key legal and negotiation skills in a simulated cross-border commercial dispute setting – an experience that demands strategic thinking, strong communication, and practical legal insight.
Mary-Kim Doherty, Head of Trainees at Carson McDowell, commented:
“We are incredibly proud of Rebekah and Reece. Their win is a testament not only to their skill and professionalism but also to the dedication and quality that characterise our trainee programme. At Carson McDowell, we place great emphasis on developing confident, capable lawyers and this international recognition speaks volumes about the calibre of our future solicitors.”
