Carson McDowell Announces Strategic Partnership with Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Northern Ireland

Carson McDowell, Northern Ireland’s largest independent law firm, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Northern Ireland. The collaboration will support CIHT’s mission to advance excellence across the highways and transportation profession, with a shared focus on infrastructure, innovation and sector leadership.

Through the partnership, Carson McDowell will work closely with CIHT during the year to deliver a programme of seminars and events offering legal insight on issues affecting the transport and infrastructure sector. The firm will also provide CIHT members with practical guidance on planning, environmental, construction, procurement, energy and infrastructure delivery.

Stuart Murphy, Head of Construction and Infrastructure at Carson McDowell, commented:

"We are pleased to enter into a partnership with CIHT and offer our support to its members throughout the year. Highways and transport professionals are facing increasingly complex legal and regulatory challenges, particularly within the areas of quarrying, construction, planning and environmental, procurement and energy. Through this collaboration, we are able to provide practical legal insights that empower stakeholders to deliver projects with assurance. Many CIHT members are already valued clients and contacts of our firm, and this partnership provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen those relationships while contributing positively to the profession as a whole."

Stephen Bradshaw, Region Chair of CIHT, added:

I am delighted to welcome Carson McDowell as a NI affiliate partner. Their depth of experience in highways, transport, infrastructure and construction law makes them an excellent fit for our organisation. This partnership will add real value to CIHT’s programme of events and professional development, helping our members better understand the legal issues that shape highways and transport infrastructure.

Over the coming year, Carson McDowell will contribute to seminars, briefings and knowledge‑sharing initiatives, supporting CIHT’s mission to advance the science and art of highways and transportation for the public benefit.

The first seminar under the partnership, Legal Hot Topics in Highways & Transport Infrastructure, will take place on 23rd April, with full details to follow on the CIHT website: Northern Ireland Events
