Rebecca Deans, Trainee Solicitor at Carson McDowell represents the UK at International Environmental Moot

Rebecca Deans, a Trainee Solicitor at Carson McDowell, is part of the UK team representing the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) at the final of the International Environmental Moot. The moot takes place at Stetson University, Florida, in April 2025. This comes after the team put in an impressive mooting display in the first round against the Law Society of Ireland in Dublin.
The environmental moot is a world-leading competition on global environmental law issues covering matters such as conservation and sustainability which simulates proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
Rebecca, due to qualify as a lawyer in September 2025, obtained a first-class honours degree in law from Queen's University Belfast in 2022 before commencing her studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) in 2023.
Mary-Kim Doherty, Partner and Head of Trainees, commented on Rebecca's achievement:
"All at Carson McDowell are delighted by the success of Rebecca and the IPLS team and wish them the best of luck in the final."
