Charity Commission upgrade to online services: What Charities in Northern Ireland need to know

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (“CCNI”) has announced important changes to the online portal used by registered charities to manage their regulatory obligations. The platform previously known as “Online services” has now been renamed “My charity login”, with a more substantial upgrade scheduled for later this year.

For many charities, this portal is the primary route for updating trustee information, maintaining public register entries, and submitting annual monitoring returns. The upcoming changes are therefore significant, and organisations should take steps now to ensure they are prepared.

The CCNI has confirmed that the upgraded version of My charity login will offer:

• A more modern and intuitive design

• Improved navigation

• Clearer guidance to help charities meet their legal duties

• A smoother process for submitting annual monitoring information

Charities should ensure that their contact details on the public register are accurate and up to date. This includes:

• Trustee names

• Email addresses and telephone numbers

• The designated main contact for the charity

These updates can be made through the current version of My charity login.

CCNI has written to Chairs and registered contacts for all charities in Northern Ireland, highlighting the upcoming upgrade and urging organisations to review their information.
