Deirdre Ryan

Deirdre Ryan joined Carson McDowell as a Partner in the Dublin office in June 2025. She specialises in defending high-value complex medical malpractice claims on behalf of healthcare clients.

While having commenced her career in one of Ireland’s leading Plaintiff medical negligence law firms, she has spent the past six years working on behalf of various leading healthcare insurers and indemnifiers. Her experience having acted for both Plaintiff and Defendant clients gives her a unique insight into the sensitivity and collaborative approach required to effectively manage and bring delicate healthcare matters to a satisfactory conclusion.

She regularly advises both hospitals and healthcare clients on a wide range of legal, ethical and regulatory issues. She is also an experienced advocate on behalf of healthcare clients and clinicians before the Coroner’s court.

She is regularly commended for her commitment to her clients and continued success in delivering positive outcomes in very sensitive and contentious matters.
